Weitzel ' for the purpose of recruiting rifle men in his company ...."|The receipts are signed Wm Gray, George Grant, and John Robb. The first 2 are dated 27 March 1776; the third, 5th April 1776. Gray received 15 pounds; Grant, 25 pounds; and Robb, 10 pounds Pennsylvania money.|Caspar Weitzel belonged to Col. Samuel Miles' Pennsylvania State Rifle Regiment from March 1776 to January 1777. -- John Kilbourne. Virtutis praemium (1998) vol. 2, p. 994. The company was later a part of the Continental Army.|One William Gray of Pennsylvania, possibly this one, was an original member of the Pennsylvania Society of the Cincinnati.
