[3]: In Senate Feb. 24th, 1784 Read and thereupon ordered that Eleazer Brooks Esq.r .... shall join ... a commmittee to consider this petition and report what may be proper to be done ... [signed' S. Adams Presid.t|Also: "In the House of Representatives same day, Read and concurred & Mr. Prescott & Mr. Bancroft are joined [signed] Tristam Dalton, Spker|Mentions his service in the 8th Massachusetts, his court martial at which he was charge with "neglect of duty and unofficer like conduct in mustering & forwarding to the army, as recruits several persons precluded by the laws of this commonwealth, & others unfit to perform the duties of a soldier in the field."|"To these charges your petitioner plead[s] not guilty" and presents his version of the trial.|Badlam requests that they consider his case and "if they are conconvinced of his innocence, that they would repair those injuries which have been done him by paying such resolutions, as shall express their sentiments of his innocence & take such other steps in his favor as they in their wisdom & justice shall think proper ...."|The Massachusetts General Court referred Badlam's petition to the Congress.
