Sparks, the well-known historian and editor of an edition of Washington’s papers, responds to an inquiry about his three volume set work, "The life of Gouverneur Morris" (Boston, 1832).
Sparks writes that he has found a single second-hand set for sale in Boston at $6.00, a high price because of its scarcity & notes that "the original edition was 2,500, and it have never been reprinted. It has not been in the market for a long time ..."
