Order to pay to Honorable Jabez Hamlin, Esq., 8 pounds, 19 shillings, and 2 pence " for the expence [sic] of the sickness and burial of Jabez Hamlin Capt. of the Light Infantry Company from Middletown, who sickned [sic] and died in the service of the State near New York, including also the allowance of twenty shillings made by the Assembly towards expences &c. ...."|On verso: receipt signed Jabez Hamlin with docketed no. 6674 including auditor's signature dated Sept. 1, 1777
