"Be it remembered, that Robert Trent Paine Esq.r Attorney General for ... Massachusetts Bay ... complains of Joseph Adams late of Townsend in the County of Middlesex ... [and] gives the court to understand ... that the said Joseph Adams physician ... levied war, and conspired to levy war against the government and people of this province ... and there adhered to the King of Great Britain, his fleets and armies ... and there did give them aid and comfort ...."
"And that the said Joseph Adams ... did withdraw himself from this province ... to Halifax, in the province of Nova-Scotia ... and hath not since returned into any of the said United States ...."
Describes "mesuages and land" consisting of about 65 acres that "by force of the ... law of this state intituled 'An Act for confiscating the estates of certain persons commonly called Absentees' ... ought to escheat, enure and accrue to the sole use and benefit of the government and people" of Middlesex County.
