Responds to Huntington's letter that had informed him of the "very great honor Congress have done me by that act [i.e. resolution] fills my bosom with the warmest gratitude, and swells my ardour for future opportunities of deserving of their approbation."
He has been ill, but "greatly recovered, and I hope in a very few days to be able to join the army again."

Refers to the following resolution of the Continental Congress regarding the Battle of Paulus Hook: Resolved, That the thanks of Congress be given to Major General Lord Stirling for the judicious. measures taken by him to forward the enterprise and to secure the retreat of the party.
