"These certify that Samuel Barlow, of said Stratford, has serv'd as a sergent in the Connecticut Line of Continental Army before the first day of January A.D. 1780 in the Core [sic] of Artificers"
"Gentlemen, Pay my balance to ye bearer hereof, Mr. John Beardslee .... [signed] Samuel Barlow"
At bottom of p. [1]: Fairfield county: ... Stratford. On this day and date above, personally appeared Mr. Samuel Barlow ... and sign'd the above order before me [signed] David Wilcockson, Justice of peace
One David Wilcoxson (1718-1793), possibly this one, was a Yale graduate. There is no mention of his being Justice of the Peace in his biographical sketch which mentions only his dates..
On veso: Stratford June the 10th 1785 / We the subscribers being Select men of Stratford do certify that Samuel Barlow did service up to the year 1780 and in the year 1780, until the 28th day of Sept.r [signed David Wells [and] Ebenezer Coe Selectmen of Town Stratford
