In 1818, Henry Dearborn published "An account of the Battle of Bunker's Hill," criticizing the performance of Gen. Israel Putnam during the battle.
[1]. Dearborn's notes describing the Breed's Hill redoubt and the British use of bayonets, written on blank pages following a list of questioned addressed to him in another hand ([4] p.) [2]. Letter to Dearborn from David C. Ballard, the publisher of the Boston Patriot, who sent the questions, Boston, Nov. 9, 1818 ([1] p. on 2 conjugate leaves); partial red wax seal remains. [3]. Holograph sketch showing "Bunker's Hill," "Breed's Hill," and redoubt, rail fence, and "Mistic River"; "a rough sketch from recollection" at bottom.
