Item [1]: This may certifie that a quantity of salatt [sic] petre offered for reinspectian [sic] by Jared Hemminway of New Haven the macker [sic] thereof amounting to a hundred and twenty seven pound[s] and one quarter of well and carefully inspected and according to my best judgment and skill the same is deemed to be pure and clean and ... free from any corrupt mixture .... Dated at New Haven the eleventh day of December 1776 [signed] Isaac Doolittle Selectman"
Item [2] is similar in lanaguage and quantity of salt Petre but ends "Dated at the powder mill at New Haven this 18th day of Dec.r 1776 [signed] Eneas Munson SP inspect.r
At bottom of p. [2]: Der. 2[1?] 1776 Rec.d an order [illegible] Treas.r in full the purch[eses?] & reim[bursement?] for sd. Jaren [signed] Abraham Heminway
