"State of New York, County of Albany, September 1838"; addressed to their son Asaph Sawyer, Cohoes, New York.
Draft prepared by Giles F. Yates, their lawyer, prior to hearings: includes the account "Nathaniel Sawyer a private & sergeant in the army of the revolution and served as herein after stated; to wit in the Company of Captain Abbot in the regiment of Colonel Poor ..."
Note on p. [2]: details of representing the family in this petition, including "If you send me the leaf from the family bible containing the record of your mother's marriage, I will draw the necessary affidavit to accompany it ...," from Yates, Schenectady, N.Y.
