"Since General Cobbs return here I have had several conversations with him on the subject of the contract between my late ... friend Mr. Bingham and me."
Also mentions debts owed to and by Knox: He seeks "an explicit answer as soon as may be convenient, as I am extremely desirous of closing all my affairs."
"General Jackson being hardly pressed by Mr. Tudor for payment I agreed to pay 2500 dollars, depending on the equity of Mr. Bingham for reimbursement, but his decease occuring prevented an allowance for the object."
Refers to various agreements with Bingham, Genral David Cobb, Alexander Baring, Governor Winthrop Sargent, Henry Jackson, William Duer, and Samuel Hodgdon.
Knox, Cobb, Tudor, and Jackson were all original members of the Massachusetts Society of the Cincinnati.
