Letters wrtten to his father and grandfather, M. de Saint Laurent, while awaiting the departure of d'Estaing's fleet for America.
Number [1], 28 March, mentions news of Capt. de Vaisseau M. de la Motte Picquet, commanding at Brest against Admiral Keppel.
Number [2], aboard the vessel Le Marseillais on 2 April, mentions preparations of the squadron destined for Philadelphia and awaiting the departure of d'Estaing's fleet and sends greetings to his mother, aunt, and grandparents.
Number [3] 3 April, to his [grand?]father M. de Saint Laurent reports preparations for the long voyage; more than 800 men aboard Le Marsellai;, d'Estaing's foiled wish to depart on the 10th; a Spanish gentleman's prediction that in 1780 "l'europe seroit toute en feu"; the Abbe Fromageot; a cadet in the Regiment du Perche
