Note
All concern records of monies owing to him as an agent for Revolutionary officers seeking pensions.
Item 1 mentions Col. Matthias Ogden's records, stating "we have tho't it best to anticipate a little, so that the business may be settled & closed -- This is also preferred by the officers themselves ... who have generally allowed 5 per cent on the amount of their pay for 5 years .... Major Thomas, Dr. [James]Thacher & Capt. [James] Sever have also done that."
Item 2 requests balance of $12 still due him.
Item 3 suggests a compromise and requests $10 as "I am out of employment & out of health ...."
Item 4: "I hope you wil pardon me for again wrting you, as to a further allowance, on account of my agency to Washington in behalf of the old officers, & the expences & services of that agency."
James Thatcher and James Sever were original members of the Massachusetts Society of the Cincinnati; Ogden, of the New Jersey Society. Bradford was a successor member of the Massachusetts Society
