The author may be Judge James Sullivan, a lawyer and member of both the Provincial Congress and the Continental Congress.
Introduces the bearer, Samuel Thatcher, whose father 'fell on Bunker Hill. Perhaps that ceases to be a recommendation to his son, but you will not like him the less from his circumstance. Mr. Thatcher is at the bar and will settle in your country if he finds a good place."
Samuel Thatcher may be the individual who was admitted to the bar in 1797 and later became a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Henry Dearborn was an original member of the Society of the Cincinanti.
