Thirty leaves of detailed plans of fortifications shown schematically, followed by a three-dimensional view set in a landscape with accompanying soldiers in formations.
Additional drawing to the 9th pair shows the same plan ink, uncolored.
Each drawing in a single ruled border.
Most of the plan drawings incorporate a scale ruler, but the scale not given.
The soldiers' red coats and grenadier hats and the appearance of a few Union Jacks identify this as a British work.
Spine title: Fortification.
Bound in marbled boards with vellum tips; calf spine with raised bands & red morocco label.
Ms. inscription in a later hand on front pastedown: Carrington-Sykes.
