Note
The identity of the addressee is problematic. The famous James Habersham, brother of John and Joseph, had died in 1775, about 9 years before this letter was written.
"I have the settlement of my estate upon the Savannah much at heart, but from what you say about the price of Negroes &c. think it will be better to wait a year or two than to give the enormous prices you mention ... I may soon add to them if the price of slaves becomes reasonable."

Wayne was an original member of the Society of the Cincinnati.
