First published in 1645 under title: Traicté des manieres de graver en taille douce sur l'airin.
This 4th edition adds 2 new plates (nos. XIV & XV) by Louis-Martin Bonnet (inventor of the crayon manner of color printing), and adds a separate chapter "De la gravûre en manière de crayon."
Manual of copperplate etching & engraving; headpieces of each chapter show scenes of the engraving studio, copperplate press, and step-by-step scenes of printmakers at work.
Includes bibliographical references and index.
Bound in cat's paw calf; gilt spine with gold floral morifs in 6 compartments with 5 raised bands & red morocco label.
