Item 1: Gentlemen: Be pleased to deliver [to] W. Colfax our state notes for the year '81 and oblige yr. obed.t servants Peter Holt [his mark] Levi Dean [and' Elihu Hancock [signed] Tho. [Lester?] NBurgh [i.e., Newburgh], 26 Nov. 82
Item 2: "I hereby certify that the above men, Hancock, Holt, and Dean served in the Comd.r in Chiefs Guard through the year '81 - that they are considered as part of the Connec.t Line, and that the above order was signed in my presence and by them personally."
