Program for the event, June 13, 1952 at the U.S. Post Office, Georgetown, South Carolina bears an original 3-cent Lafayette stamp ("Arrival of Lafayette in America - 1777") hand-canceled on the first day of issue.
At top of the program: "Liberté. Egalité. Fraternité."
The day-long program started with a parade at 10:30 a.m. and concluded with a concern by the United States Marine Band from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Henri Bonnet, the French ambassador to the United States, senators, congressmen, the governor (James F. Byrnes, an honorary member of the South Carolina Society), the town mayor & former-governor (not-yet-senator) Strom Thurmond are listed among the guests.
Accompanied by a separate commemorative envelope also with a first day of issue canceled stamp.
