Eli Barnum of Danbury served as a private in the 5th Connecticut Regiment in 1775, and promoted from sergeant to ensign in Bradley's Battalion, Wadsworth's Brigade -- cf. Connecticut men ... during the Revolution, p. 414. He married Eunice Hinman.
