Note
The writer may be either John Moylan, who was Clothier General of the Continental Army during the Revolution, or his brother James. both of whom were brothers of Stephen Moylan. Both were engaged in the mercantile business in Philadelphia after the war.
The recipient may be William Lewis of Virginia, also a Continental officer and an original member of the Society of the Cincinnati of Virginia. He had been a prisoner at war's end. Another possibility is Col. William, also of Virginia, who d. 1811.
"Yesterday I rec'd another angry letter from Mr. [Ephraim? John?] Fenno respecting our friend Gen. Wayne. Pray relieve me by giving a judgment for the amount of our demand; this will put an end to all altercations between that gentleman and me, without doing any prejudice to the general, as he is absent and his estate in Pa. subject to prior leins."
Also refers to "the legal demages of S. Carolina"
Anthony Wayne was an original member of the Pennsylvania Society of the Cincinnati but moved to Georgia and changed his affiliation.
