Note
Mentioning his "having sacrificed my little all in the important service of my country in the hour of danger ..." and this being "the first time I have solicited either the general of [i.e., or] state government for any pecuniary offfice", Kearsley requests that Potter support his "application for the inspectorship of this brigade."
Refers to a conversation that Judge Walker had with Governor [George Wolf], who "was pleas'd to speak in very respectful terms of me as an old acquaintance & this was in truth the case as we had the opportunity of being pretty well acquainted in the revolutionary war. He was pleased to tell Judge Walker that he wished to have a few lines from Judge Potter & Mr. [Andrew?] Gregg on the subject."
He urges early action, "as I hear Joseph Miles & Mr. Alricks are pressing their applications at this time."
