"[I]f any shoes of mine still remain unsold should be glad if you would ... sell them imediately [sic] at auction for the most they will fetch .... If any balance is due to me please to ship it with the above L10 paid Mr. Logan in good common flour pr. Capt. Hinkley ... [or] by Capt. Gorham or any other vessell for Boston."
Since I think ware [i.e., war] a very serious & gloomy aspect I pray God it may soone be better when I hope to renew our trade to mutual satisfaction ...."
"I inclose you an order on Mr. Thos. Mackaniss for what he owes me which is for 53 pair shoes which I think he sold @ 4/6 however what he pays you please to place to my credit & vest in flour ...."
