"Know all men by these presents that I Heman Swift of Cornwel [sic] in the State of Connecticut am holden & bound to the governor & company of the state of Connecticut in the sum of three thousand pounds ... to be paid to the said governor & company ...."
"The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas Albert Chapman Robert Walker & Theodore Woodbridge are all appointed Captains in the Continental Battalion now to be rais.d in the state to be commanded by Col. Heman Swift [who] will receive out of the publick treasury of this states five hundred pounds for each of s.d captains to pay out for the raising their respective companies in part of the ten pounds enlisting bounty ...."

Swift was the colonel of the 7th Connecticut in 1777. Chapman's and Woodbridge's names appear among the list of captains in The Record of Connecticut Men ... during the War of the Revolution, p. 218, but Walker's does not.

Swift, Champan, and Woodbridge were original members of the Connecticut Society of the Cincinnati.
