Two receipts relating to the transfer and housing of Tory prisoners of war from New York to New Hampshire

[No. 1]. Receipt in the amout of L 2.16.10, dated January 17th, 1777, records cash paid by Daniel Gilman to Moses Louge "for pine bords to making Cabbins in the Gaol" -- [no. 2]. Receipt in the amount of L 2.6.9, dated May 1st 1777, payment from Nicholas Gilman to Daniel Jewell for "Escorting Seven prisoners, which were Sent from the State of New York, from Exeter to Portsmouth Gaol."
Daniel Gilman was an Exeter merchant who acquired the "Ladd-Gilman House" in 1747. His son was Nicholas Gilman, who served as state treasurer of New Hampshire during the war. His son, Nicholas Gilman, Jr. (1755-1814) was an original member of NH Society.
