Note
Addressed to Thomas Thynne, third Viscount Weymouth & first Marquess of Bath, the British secretary of state regarding intelligence on a French privateer & two English prizes brought into Cadiz in 1778 and Spanish naval strength and preparations.
"My Lord, I take the opportunity of a passenger who embarks in a neutral ship for England, to inform your Lordship of my having got within these three days certain intelligence that the fleet here have completed their full compliments of men ... I have wrote to Admiral Duff acquainting him with these particulars and requested him if possible, to enable me by an exchange or any other method. He may judge proper to redeem these useful men that they may be employ'd in His Majestys service ..."

At left upper corner: "Duplicate. No. 33" (Probably in Lord Weymouth's hand?).
