Scrapbook no. 5 in collection of material (5 scrapbooks & 2 envelopes of separate letters and photographs) documenting Isabel Anderson's experiences as a Red Cross volunteer in America & France during World War I & II, as librarian general of the D.A.R.; relating to the presidential campaigns of 1916 & 1920, etc.
Newspaper & magazine clippings, photographs, programs, invitations, letters and other materials relating to Mrs. Anderson's involvements with the D.A.R., including her election as librarian general in 1923.
Partial contents: "Capital Women in D.A.R. Race (Mrs. Larz Anderson and Mrs. Anthony Wayne Cook" (clipping, pasted on front pastedown) -- Letter of Larz Anderson to Isabel's mother (Anna Minot Weld Perkins) -- Newspaper clipping featuring Isabel Anderson presenting a flag to the mother of a former Boy Scout who had been killed during World War -- Material detailing the contentious race for president general of the D.A.R. in 1923, during which Isabel Anderson ran for librarian general on the presidential slate of Mrs. Anthony Wayne Cook -- Copy of the official ballot with final tallies for each office. (Mrs. Anderson won the most votes overall).
Bound in red cloth.
These scrapbooks descended in the family of Augustus Anderson (known as Gus Anderson), Mrs. Anderson personal secretary in the last years of her life, whose parents had also been servants at the Andersons’ home, Weld).
