Note
The Hills was the name of Morris' country estate located on the Schuylkill River outside Philadelphia, but at the time, he was actually in debtors' prison in Philadelphia.
Acknowledges with thanks receipt of an Indian deed, possibly referring to the June 1, 1798 treaty with the Oneida Indians which ceded land in New York State. Morris was a land speculator during this time.
"I have requested Messrs. LeRoy, Bayard, & McEvers to settle with you as they pay all the expenses of the treaty, out of my money reserved for the purpose."
Pages [2] and [3] are blank; p. [4] is address leaf.
Morris was an honorary member of the New York Society of the Cincinnati.
