Context: In 1796, Rochambeau fils was appointed governor of Santo Domingo but was soon ousted and sent back to France. In 1802, becaue of his knowledge of the colony, he was sent back to the colony as second in command under General Leclerc.
Number [1], March 10, mentions equipment, General [César Alexandre] Debelle, the aides-de-camp of General [Jean Jacques] Dessalines, and his own planned move to Mirebalais.
Number [2], March 7, sends reports of envoys sent to General Debelle and many details of cavalry and artillery concerning their seige on the rebel fort, especially the bravery, intelligence, and "conduite du capitaine de genie" as well as his own aides de camp, always better than the enemy's cavalry.
Number [3], March 9, reports his successful arrival at Mirebalais and willl await orders
Number [4], March 9, praises the "chef de brigade [Jean Marie de] Vaillaret de Joyeuse" of Rochambeau's division
