"I could never get any satisfactory answer, for the violation of my flagg, in the detention of John Smith Hatfield and Abner Badgely. I have detained Lt. Thomas, and shall deliver him to the refugees, if Hatfield and Badgley are not returned to me."
Skinner commanded the New Jersey Volunteers, a loyalist brigade.
Edmund Disney Thomas was an original member of the New Jersey Society of the Cincinnati.
