Hand colored trophy of flags & geographical instruments on plates; watercolor drawings of compass diagrams on folded plate & some tables with watercolor flags.
Peregrine Francis Bertie joined the Royal Navy as a lieutenant in 1759, and was promoted to captain in 1762. He served in Africa and the West Indies before retiring from service and becoming a member of parliament. He voted in favor of the peace preliminaries to end the American revolutionary war.
Bound in tan calf with blind stamped panels.
In red morocco wallet binding with flap; inscription on small oval silver plaque on flap: Honble. Captn P. Bertie.
