Naval signals for use in day, night and fog, originally produced for Phillips Cosby, a British naval captain. The Centaur and Robust were 74-gun ships that saw action during the American revolutionary war.

Bound in marbled wrappers.
With: "Wheres we have set on shore the person under-mentioned belonging to His Majesty's Ship the Hind. We desire that care may be taken for quarters and cure for him, according to the methods of the navy. Dated this Seventh of August 1762," signed by Phillips Cosby: a partially printed certificate to set ashore from H.M.S. Hind Corporal Cromey suffering from rheumatism.
