"We are informed that Josiah Wilson & Peter Davis who were fined last January ... & not being able to pay, are now confined in Birlingham goal [and] are willing to enlist in the Jersey Brigade to serve during the war."
"If they should do this, we are willing to think it best that they should be discharged from their fines & recommend them unto Your Excellency & the ... Privy Council for that purpose, as they have already suffered long confinement & will probably make good soldiers ...."
