"The plan for the formation and institution of the Society of the Cincinnati, I hope you have received, as by a resolution of the convention, Major General Heath was desired to forward and request your approbation of it."

Steuben was an original member of the New York Society of the Cincinnati; Dayton, an original member of the New Jersey Society and its first president; Heath, an original member of the Massachusetts Society
