Correspondants: Homer Bast, R. S. [i.e., R. A.] Cooper, Channing Cox, Everett Lake, Horace Morison, Francis K. Pendleton, Judge Henry A. M. Smith, Harrison Tilghman, Oswald Tilghman, and Tench F. Tilghman.
Number [5] is a 1921 letter from J. M. Halsted, President of the French Restoration Fund, Inc. that includes copies of letters from Gov. Cox of Massachusetts, Gov. Lake of Connecticut, and Gov. Cooper of South Carolina as well as a copy of a speech concerning drive in the public schools of New York in order to rebuild schools in "the devastated regions of France."
Number [6] concerns the 'rehabilitation" of the French Society of the Cincinnati
Number [7]: copy of a minute from the February 22, 1928 meeting of the Maryland Society of the Cincinnati (7a) and a letter from Horace Morison, Secretary of the New Hampshire Society (7b) enclosing a resolution of that Society regarding the death of Thomas Edward Sears, Secretary of the Society of the Cincinnati of Maryland (7c).
Number [8], an A.L.S. from Homer Bast at the University of Virginia to Harrison Tilghman, requests knowledge of the location of Tech Tilghman letters.
Numbers (9) and (10), A.LL.S from Tench F. Tilghman, Aug. 1937, probably concern Homer Bast's thesis on the subject of Lt. Col. Tench Tilghman.
Numbers (11) and (12)), probably retained copies of Harrison Tilghman letters to James W. Foster, Director of the Maryland Historical Society, 28 June 19; no. (11) concerns errors in the location of "the Hermitage" as published in a Homer Bast article in Maryland Historical Magazine; (12) mentions "other matter(s) of interest" -- among them the Lowes of Derbeyshire, the marriage of Henry Sewell and Jane Lowe, Anthony Eden, and Charles Calvert as well as matters of illegitimacy; also requests 6 copies of the magazine "which I wish to send to interested parties."
