Inventory accounts for articles in the Andersons' home, Washington, D.C., 1911.
Accompanied by photograph books (MSS L1938D2 M [Bound]) containing pictures of many of these articles and a portfolio (MSS L1938D11 M) containing papers regarding these various articles.
Larz Anderson went through the inventory to number these articles in red or blue ink in order to connect them to the photograph books and the portfolios. The red Roman numerals at the head of the inventory of each room refer to the photographs, similarly numbered, of the same room in the photograph books. The red arabic numerals which follow items identify the articles which appear similarly numbered in the photographs themselves. The blue arabic numerals which follow items refer to papers which concern the articles and which should be found in the similarly numbered pockets of the portfolio.
He also annotated in black ink which explain where these items were procured.
