Note
Most concern fitting the warship Le Pluton for duty: nos. 1 and 2, the new masts; nos. 3 and 7, her armament; no. 4, necessary repairs; and no. 9, her rediness for battle.
Number 6 informs Destouches that Sartine will present the former's name for the Order of St. Louis; no. 8 recognizes Destouches' wish for active service but notes that the King's orders prevent such action at the moment.
Sartine was the French Ministre de la Marine; Destouches was assembling a squadron and commanded Le Pluton off the Virginia coast and in the Battle of the Capes.
Destouches was an original member of the French Society of the Cincinnati.

Purchased in memory of the Duc de Levis-Mirepoix, French Society
