Requests that Phelps "examine the books of Revolutionary services in the comptrollers office of N.Y. for the name of John Wibert ...."
Wibert had claimed service in 1776 in the Company of Captain Job Wright for 10 months and in spring 1777 for 9 months under Capt. Ephraim Woodworth and lieut. Thomas Ballard. In 1778, he moved to Fishkill serving under Captain Brinkerhoof "several tours but is not able to state the length of service.
Wibert does not appear in Berthold Fernow's New York in the Revolution or in Heitman's Historical register of officers, nor does Thomas Ballard. A Job Wright served in the Connecticut line, but Wibrt's name does not appear in Johnston's Record of Connecticut men. An Ephraim Woodward served as Captain in the N.Y. militia in 1775; similarly, a Capt. George Brinkerhoff was Captain in the N.Y. militia, 1777-1780.
According to D.A.R. records, Wibert served in the New York militia; S.A.R. records identify his rank as private in the First Albany County Regiment, New York Militia.
