Title on v. 2 reads: "The history of the province of Massachusets-Bay, from the charter of King William and Queen Mary, in 1691, until the year 1750 ...," 1767; title on v. 3 reads: "The history of the province of Massachusetts bay from the year 1750, until June, 1774 ...," 1828.
Vol. 1 is supplemented by a separate work: "A collection of original papers relative to the history of the colony of Massachusetts-Bay," 1769.
Vol. 3 was edited by the author's grandson John Hutchinson. The original issue of v. 3, designed for the English market, has slightly different title, without volume number: "The history of the province of Massachusetts-Bay from 1749 to 1774, comprising a detailed narrative of the origin and early stages of the American Revolution ...," 1828.
Errata: v. 2, p. [4].
Hutchinson was a loyalist. When his house was attacked during the Stamp Act riots, the ms. of v. 2 missing, but recovered & published separately in 1767.
Includes index to v. 1-2 in v. 2.
Bound in calf; spine divided in 6 compartments by raised bands.
Library has v. 1 only: v. 1 (L2016F47): bookplate: John Sullivan; ms. inscription on front free endpaper: Jas. Sullivan's Book Cambridge Feby. 12th 1789 (General Sullvan's son)
