Note
Major Tyler of the Massachusetts line reports to his commanding officer, Col. Henry Jackson, on the recent battles of Fort Clinton and Fort Montgomery. He notes that the regiment is "in good order barring the com'y difficulty, such as the soldiers being a little in liquor, some a little troublesome, but I may call them a good reg't & under good com'd."
He also reports whipping a soldier for breaking a window of a "poor widow"; proposes marching the regiment to join Washington at Valley Forge and sketches a diagram of their order of march.
