A follow-up letter regarding the need to support John McIntosh, Lachlan's brother: "I requested that you would inform me if you proported to make a remittance for the support of John McIntosh ... [T]he matter remains in uncertainty."
John McIntosh's Jamaica plantation had been seriously damanged and provisions destroyed in a July 1784 hurricane. For a descriptive letter from another friend, see The Papers of Lachlan McIntosh, 1774-1779 in Collections of the Georgia Historical Society, vol. XII, p. 134-135.
Lachlan McIntosh was an original member of the Georgia Society of the Cincinnati.
