Note
Wallop served in the 3rd Regiment of Foot first as ensign then lieutenant.
In 1780, he served "in America as Captain in General Knyphausen's Hessian Regiment in British pay, also as captain in the Queens Rangers & a major of brigade of the whole provincial army till the peace in 1783.
"Rank, Captain on the half pay of the Queens Rangers
"Inability to serve. I have long suffered from violent attacts of peripneumony & am now in a more debilitated state than ever. I have therefore annexed a certificate of the state of my health [not present] from Doctor Nelson Scott ... who has attended me many years ...."
Wallop's mother was Lady Bridget Bennet (1696-1738), and his father was the governor of the Isle of Wight
Watermark: Smith & Ingle 1801, Manchester. Not in Gravell. Foreign watermarks, but similar to example 638.
