"Well knowing your patriotism and tender feelings for the brave officers & soldiers who endured every species of hardship & distress in the course of the late war, I shall ... take ye liberty of recommending to your favourable notice ... Major Moses Macfarland [sic] who served his country as an officer from the commencement of the war till peace was obtain'd."
"This brave officer was very badly wounded while in the service of his country which has disabled him from supporting himself & family.... He has been very unfortunate in his attempts for assistance from the public ...."
McFarland had served in Nixon's Massachusetts Regiment was wounded at Bunker Hill, transferred to the 4th Continental Infantry and eventually transferred to the Continental Corps of Invalids in 1779 -- Heitman. Historical register.
Peabody had been an advocate for the army at the Continental Congress.
Taylor had served early in the war in the New Hampshire militia, but later served in various non-military positions during the war. At the time of this request, he was serving on the Board of Commissioners for settling accounts resulting from the war.
