In response to King George II's declaration of war against France on May 17, 1756, King Louis XV counter-declared war against Great Britain on June 9, 1756. Louis condemned the behavior of the British & strongly defended the actions of his country & colonies.
Two variants issued on behalf of the King; one for the use of the army & the other for the navy; this copy is for the navy & directed to "Le Duc de Penthièvre Amiral de France."
