Note
"I Benjamin Willcox of Freetown in the county of Bristol and commonwealth of Massachusetts yeoman, father and natural guardian of John Willcox of Freetown ... deceased for a valuable consideration ...paid by Abner Durfee of Tiverton ... do hereby sell, assign, set over and transfer, unto the said Abner Durfee ..." the sum of sixty pounds, six shillings and three pence "as by the the depreciation accounts of said regiment will appear."
John Willcox had been a fifer in Col. John Topham's company of the 1st Rhode Island state regiment.
On verso: "I Abner Durfee of Tiverton in the state of Rhode Island hereby assign ett over and relinquish all my right & title to the within ballance to [blank] he having paid me a valuable consideraton for the same & I warrant the within ballance to be bought of the lawful owner ... [signed] Abner Durfee in presence of Wm. Tyler." [red seal]
