Note
"Please may his Honour Governor Trumbull by the hand of Mr Simeon Gray eight pounds seven shillings & five pence that sum by him advanced in discharge of Elkanah Tisdale's acct. for a journey from Lebanon to New York to establish hospitals ...."
A resolution of the Governor and Council of Connectcut on Sept. 18, 1776 had passed a resolution that Elkanah Tisdale be appointed to effect the establishment of hospitals in every town between New Haven and King's Bridge N.Y. for the "accommodation of troops at and near New York who are sick, on furlough, or discharged." Those hospitals were to include prisoners.
