"These certify that the above named James Marston was a transient person & has no place of residence in this state of Connecticut & that he came from the prison ship in New York, was passing thro' this town, and was taken sick, and lay confin.d five weeks at public expence, being destitute of anything to help himself, we therefore pray your honors to give orders for our payment ...."
A James Marston was a Captain of a company of soldiers from then Massachusetts, later Vermont.
The bill submitted is for 10 pounds, 11 shillings, 2 pounds 17 shillings of which are to reimburse Doctor Levi Ives for his services.
