Fourteen-year-old Clarence James Gamble, his parents, and his 17-year-old brother spent 10 weeks in Japan in 1908. One hundred twenty of the many photographs the brothers took are reproduced in this volume, along with journals of their travels. Gamble was an international philanthropist who promoted women's health and contraception, and founded Pathfinder International, a global nonprofit organization that provides maternal health care and education for women.
