On verso: Contll Village July 2d 1781 Orders two/ days provisions for the [within?] soldier / John Campbell / [illegible] ; and in another hand: Daniel Bosworth pass from Virgina [sic]
"Daniel Boswrth a soldier in the 5th Massachusetts Regt was taken prisoner by the British & ... enlisted in their service. This appearing to the satisfaction of Brigadier Genl Morgan, he has directed me to dismiss him from his confinement withe the British soldiers with whom he was taken.& to [permit him?] to pass to the [illegible] which he belongs. All persons are therefore requested to let him pass unmolested while he behaves himself well."
