Engraved playing board for a game (based on the "Game of the Goose") for teaching the principles and methods of fortification of Vauban; central image is a fortress facing a Vauban-style siege, with the besiegers' camp, lines of contravallation, and approach trenches clearly visible; surrounded by a spiral track of 87 numbered spaces, each featuring text and engraved plans illustrating Vaubans approach; four corners are decorated by rococo cartouches, including the title, geometric principles relevant to fortification.
